Miller Thomson’s Banking and Financial Services Group consists of a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers across the country. Our Expertise

Our lawyers have extensive experience in a broad range of financial services areas, including domestic and cross-border financing and lending transactions for clients in all areas of the economy.

We have particular expertise in the automotive sector. We act for a diverse group of financial institutions in respect of the financing of automotive dealers, and the structuring, implementation and maintenance of auto dealer programs.

Our team has advised participants in project financing in infrastructure, transportation, construction, oil and gas, energy, mining, health and other key industries.

We work closely with financial institutions, corporate issuers, underwriters and others on securitization transactions involving a range of asset classes including trade, credit card and other retail receivables, lease receivables and residuals, insurance receivables, instalment receivables, and commercial and residential mortgages.

In the financial services sectors, we represent domestic and foreign banks, other financial institutions, insurance companies, and regulated and unregulated financial businesses. We also have maintained long-standing working relationships with regulators at both federal and provincial levels.

Our national team has also advised clients with respect to a wide variety of retail financial products and services. And, we assist clients in complying with consumer protection legislation, privacy laws and other statutes of interest to clients with retail operations.
