Biography description

Vanessa is Cree and a member of the Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation in Manitoba. Vanessa is an Associate in the firm’s corporate practice.

As a corporate solicitor, Vanessa’s practice includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and general business law matters. She brings a collaborative approach and strong attention to detail, working closely with clients to understand their unique circumstances and develop practical legal solutions. Whether assisting with a strategic transaction or supporting ongoing corporate needs, Vanessa is committed to delivering thoughtful counsel that advances her clients’ business goals and long-term success.

Vanessa earned her law degree from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia (UBC). During law school, she was actively involved with the UBC Indigenous Law Students’ Association (ILSA) and served as a student liaison with the Aboriginal Lawyers Forum. Vanessa also volunteered with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program (LSLAP), where she provided free legal services to low-income individuals in Metro Vancouver.

Prior to law school, Vanessa worked in the federal health sector, focusing on cannabis licensing and regulation. She supported stakeholder engagement initiatives, including community outreach and consultations with licence holders. Her work aimed to enhance regulatory communications and promote equitable access to the federally regulated cannabis industry.
