Overview
Philippe St-Louis focuses his practice on intellectual property, entertainment law and information technology law. In addition, Philippe has been active in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, as well as venture capital, acting mainly for media or Technology businesses.
In the entertainment field, Philippe advises clients involved in a variety of industries including film, television, publishing, music, technology and new media. In particular, Philippe represents musicians, artists, producers, broadcasters and distributors, often providing assistance in negotiating and drafting agreements in connection with the development, production and distribution of film, television and musical projects.
In the field of technology law, Philippe has experience dealing with issues related to privacy and information management and negotiating system integration, software licensing and computer services agreements of all kinds.
Over the course of his academic career, Philippe has successfully completed a number of professional internships, working closely with in-house counsel and exhibiting sound business acumen. At various times, Philippe has been a member of the legal department of a Canadian broadcaster, an American cable television channels and a prominent Hollywood studio.
Also active on the Montréal music scene, Philippe has performed in public on numerous occasions as a singer and guitarist, as well as produced and released two studio EP albums.
