Miller Thomson is pleased to welcome four new partners to its Toronto office, bringing added depth to its Corporate, M&A and Securities group. Their arrival reflects the Firm’s continued focus on key sectors such as mining and energy as well as its commitment to delivering clear, practical legal solutions to clients.

Andrew Powers joined last month as a Partner in the Corporate, M&A and Securities group. He brings extensive experience in domestic and cross-border financings, including seed capital, IPOs, and public and private offerings. His work in the critical minerals and energy transition sectors, covering regulatory, geopolitical, and NI 43-101 matters, positions him to co-lead the Firm’s Mining Group alongside Geoff Clarke.

Joining the Firm on June 30, Jeff Gebert practices in capital markets, with an emphasis on mining and natural resources. He has worked in-house at a multinational logistics company and previously practiced as an engineer and scientist. Jeff advises on mergers, acquisitions, and corporate transactions in sectors including cannabis, transportation, real estate, and technology. He has acted on complex, high-value deals and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.

Similarly, Alex Bruvels, who also joined the Firm on June 30, brings additional strength to the Corporate, M&A and Securities group with a focus on capital markets and mining as well as structured real estate products. He advises on corporate finance, M&A, and securities law, and works with clients in sectors including mining, REITs, real estate developers and asset managers as well as private equity, and technology. His experience spans venture financings, IPOs, reverse takeovers, and both public and private offerings. He is a member of the Advisory Group on Finance to the Ministry of Natural Resources and provincial mining ministries, where he contributes to policy recommendations.

Jasmine Lothian joined Corporate, M&A and Securities group on July 2. She advises private and public companies in both Canada and the U.S., with a practice that includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, governance, and fund formation, particularly in the energy and technology sectors. Her clients range from multinational corporations to small and mid-sized companies. Jasmine also works with a variety of private wealth and family office clients and their principals/professionals across multiple industries, services, and areas of interest.

“The addition of Andrew, Jeff, Alex, and Jasmine highlights the Firm’s growth and ongoing focus on strengthening expertise in key sectors,” says Jay Hoffman, Chair of the National Business Law Group at Miller Thomson. “With their deep industry knowledge and commitment to client service, they will significantly boost our ability to provide practical, strategic advice that meets the changing needs of our clients.”
