Joel McClarty is a Partner in Miller Thomson’s Corporate, M&A, and Securities group. Joel advises private organizations, entrepreneurs, and family-owned enterprises across a variety of industries to help them capitalize on business opportunities, manage risk, and achieve their strategic objectives. His clients are active in healthcare, technology, professional services, automotive, energy, and media.

Joel has experience with domestic and cross-border transactions including mergers and acquisitions, asset and share purchases and sales, debt and equity financings and corporate reorganizations.

In addition to his transaction practice, Joel negotiates and drafts a range of commercial agreements including shareholder, partnership, and joint venture agreements, service agreements and other key commercial contracts. He is recognized for his commercial understanding of his clients’ businesses allowing him to craft durable solutions to the issues presented by his clients.

Joel has been recognized by industry organizations for his proficiency, including being named in Best Lawyers in Canada: Ones to Watch for Corporate Law in 2026.
