Abid Ahmed is building a broad business law practice focusing on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law. Abid employs a customized proactive approach when advising clients on matters of corporate and securities law. He has experience in a variety of areas including: public and private acquisitions, public offerings, private placements, securities regulation, and private equity and venture capital transactions. He has advised clients on corporate governance matters, continuous disclosure requirements and other obligations under securities laws and stock exchange policies.
Abid summered and articled with Miller Thomson LLP and joined the firm as an Associate following his call to the Ontario Bar in 2018. He received his Juris Doctor from Western Law. During his time at law school, Abid was a Teaching Assistant, Student Ambassador and worked as a Case Manager for the Western Business Law Clinic where he provided legal services and advised businesses on the financial and legal implications of their business activities. He also helped found the BizBasics program, which consists of workshops run by Toronto business lawyers aimed at educating law students on topics such as finance, accounting and client relations.
Prior to law school, Abid earned his Honours Bachelor of Arts degree (Political Science) at Western University. During his undergraduate degree, Abid served as a Councillor for the London Youth Advisory Council while simultaneously working for the Federal Government and Scotiabank.
