Biography description
Sheila is a partner in the Estate Litigation group in Toronto. She is known for her tenacious advocacy, strategic judgment, and her ability to zero in on the crux of an issue. She brings clarity to complex disputes and develops practical solutions to advance her clients’ interests and objectives.
Sheila represents estate trustees and other fiduciaries, financial institutions, government agencies, and charities in matters involving breach of trust cases, will challenges, and dependant support claims, and she advises high net-worth individuals in wide-ranging and intricate estate matters. Sheila also represents hospitals in disputes at the appellate level.
Beyond her practice, Sheila plays an active role in the legal profession. She serves as an editor of Widdifield on Executors and Trustees, one of Canada’s leading texts on the topic, and she is the 2026/2027 Secretary of the Ontario Bar Association’s Estates and Trusts Section after serving for several years on its Executive. She is frequently invited to chair and speak at continuing legal education programs, and writes on emerging issues in estate litigation and administration.
Her peers have repeatedly recognized her in The Best Lawyers in Canada for Trusts and Estates Law and as a Leading Lawyer in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, reflecting her reputation as both a trusted advocate and a leader in her field.
