Team Heading

Ryley Schmidt maintains a diverse practice that includes general civil litigation and real estate, but specifically focuses on condominiums and cooperatives. Ryley has experience representing condominium corporations/cooperatives, directors, unit owners/members, and property managers with the unique challenges that can arise through collective living and the development and maintenance of multi-family or commercial developments. His experience in these areas includes bylaw drafting and enforcement, condominium fee collection, construction deficiencies, project financing, and governance. As a principle, Ryley strives to inform condominium corporations/cooperatives, unit owners/members, and property managers of their rights and obligations and find out-of-court solutions that balance each stakeholder’s individual interests within a collective living environment.

Outside of the office, Ryley delights in spending quality time with his partner, wandering around local farmers’ markets, and settling down with a good movie.

Ryley is a proud member of the Canadian Condominium Institute – North Alberta and South Alberta Chapters, Canadian Bar Association, and is actively involved in the Edmonton legal community, serving as a volunteer with the Provincial Court Civil Claims Duty Counsel Program and the Court of King’s Bench Amicus Program. He is also a compassionate legal professional, deeply involved in supporting mental health visibility and initiatives within the legal community.
