Kurt is widely recognized nationally for his work in entertainment law and intellectual property, representing high-profile entertainers, film companies, video game companies, influencers, recording artists, songwriters, music producers, record labels, managers, publishing companies and a wide range of stakeholders and creatives in the music, film and gaming industries. Called to the bar in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Ontario, Kurt maintains a national practice advising clients across Canada and internationally on complex entertainment, intellectual property and commercial matters.
With a unique background as a touring musician, entrepreneur, keynote speaker and board member, Kurt combines legal insight with real-world industry experience. As a chart-topping musician who toured internationally for more than two decades, he understands the legal and practical realities facing artists, creators and entertainment companies at every stage of their careers and businesses. Kurt is regularly sought out for strategic advice on entertainment, intellectual property and media matters, and is recognized as a thought leader within the entertainment and intellectual property industries.
Deeply involved in Canada’s music and arts communities, Kurt currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Country Music Association, is President of the Board for the Western Canadian Music Alliance, and is Board Chair for the Sask JazzFest. He is also a sought-after speaker at major entertainment industry events and regularly presents on entertainment law, intellectual property and the evolving business of the creative industries.
