Monica’s practice focuses exclusively on insolvency and restructuring matters, including Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) proceedings, creditor-debtor disputes, enforcement of creditors’ rights and security, and informal restructurings. She has experience working with a wide-range of stakeholders in insolvency proceedings including corporate debtors, secured and unsecured lenders, receivers, representative counsel, court-appointed monitors, trustees, and inspectors.
Monica graduated from Western Law in 2020 where she received a number of awards, including the Insolvency Institute of Canada (IIC) award in Insolvency Studies, and the Catalyst Capital Scholarship in Bankruptcy, Insolvency, and Restructuring Law. While at Miller Thomson LLP, Monica won the inaugural Justice Glenn Hainey Memorial Award in 2023, and was recognized as an Associate to Watch in Chambers Canada 2025.
