Cutting Red Tape Act Now in Force

November 23, 2017 | Natasha Smith

As previously reported, Bill 154, The Cutting Unnecessary Red Tape Act, 2017 (the “Act”), proposed a number of changes to the Ontario Corporations Act (see here for summary) as well as the Charities Accounting Act (see here for summary).  Many of these changes were proposed to come into force on the date upon which the Act received Royal Assent.  The Act (which can be accessed here) received Royal Assent on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.  Notably, some provisions are delayed to a time in the future (i.e., 60 days from the date of Royal Assent).  If you have any questions with respect to the new rules and the dates upon which they apply, one of our Social Impact Lawyers would be pleased to assist.
