Overview

Yannick is an expert in construction law providing advice to owners, general and specialized contractors, and suppliers of materials. He is experienced in handling claims for delays, breach of contract and the recovery of funds, particularly through the use of construction hypothecs, as well as claims for faulty work and hidden defects.

He has represented various construction industry stakeholders before traditional courts and bodies offering alternative dispute resolution methods, such as arbitration and mediation.

Yannick was an instructor for the Association des professionnels de la construction et de l’habitation du Québec (APCHQ) and the Association de la Construction du Québec (ACQ) with respect to its program to help contractors obtain their construction licenses from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ).

From 2010 to 2013, he acted as Secretary of the Board of Directors of LeVic, an organization dedicated to succession planning in the real estate and construction industries. Since 2013, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the ACQ for the Montérégie region and since 2019 he has been a member of the board of directors of the Association Québécoise des Entrepreneurs en Infrastructure (AQEI).

Yannick has been a regular speaker at meetings of various construction industry associations on such topics as:

  • Representing construction contractor claims against public owners, such as the MTQ and municipalities;
  • Representing construction contractors in dealing with construction faults, defects and deficiencies;
  • Representing construction contractors in collecting unpaid amounts;
  • Drafting and revising construction contracts;
  • Call for public tenders, minor or major non-compliance and eligibility clause.
