On November 7, 2023, the Canadian shipowner Qikiqtaaluk Fisheries Corporation (“QFC”) successfully closed its amended and restated credit facilities with the Bank of Montreal, including the establishment of a new ship build facility in connection with the purchase of QFC’s new fishing trawler, the Saputi II.
QFC is a major participant in the Canadian shellfish and groundfish industries, providing premium cold-water seafood to national and international markets. It seeks to maximize Inuit employment on land and at sea.
Miller Thomson advised QFC, together with Dubuc Osland (Ottawa, ON), and was led by Kenneth Rosenstein and Shaun Parekh (Financial Services) and Louis Amato-Gauci (Marine Law: Shipbuilding).
