Manav Singhla

Biography description

Manav Singhla is a construction and commercial litigation lawyer who represents owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in construction matters across Ontario. His practice covers construction liens, trust claims under the Construction Act, project delay and deficiency claims, professional negligence, construction bonds and surety claims, and insolvency issues arising on construction projects. He works with clients at every stage of a project, from negotiating and drafting contracts through to resolving disputes as they surface, with the goal of protecting commercial interests and keeping projects on schedule.

Manav acts on projects across the commercial, institutional, and residential sectors, including subdivision and high-rise developments, water and waste management infrastructure, transit, healthcare facilities, schools, and hotels. As a result, he is experienced with a wide range of contract models, including CCDC standard forms, design-build, and construction management, and regularly advises on disputes that may arise from scope changes, scheduling delays, defective work, and design errors and omissions.

Beyond construction, Manav also acts on commercial contract disputes, real estate litigation, shareholder disputes and oppression remedies, and debt recovery. He has represented clients at all levels of court in Ontario and at the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as in private arbitration and mediation.

Manav is an active contributor to the construction law community, writing for and presenting to industry and legal associations including the American Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, London and District Construction Association, and Ontario Dispute Adjudication for Construction Contracts. His topics include risk mitigation and dispute resolution through international arbitration, litigation, and adjudication.
