John Israel Galambos has returned to Miller Thomson’s Montréal office as a Partner in the Firm’s Tax group, effective October 20, 2025.

With more than 20 years of experience, John focuses his practice on corporate and individual taxation, tax and estate planning, wills and trusts, corporate reorganizations, and asset protection. He regularly advises clients on a broad range of tax matters, including asset and share transactions, shareholders’ agreements, and employee stock option plans.

John is also frequently sought after to help resolve estate and shareholder disputes, bringing both technical precision and practical judgment to complex situations. His clients include high-net-worth individuals, private companies, single and multi-family offices, public institutions, private foundations, charities, and not-for-profit organizations. Before returning to Miller Thomson, he served as Co-Leader of the Family Office division (Quebec) at a major accounting firm, advising affluent individuals, family offices, and wealth advisors on sophisticated tax and succession planning matters. He now applies that expertise within Miller Thomson’s Private Client Services group.

“John is known for his deep knowledge, clear advice, and strong leadership. I am happy to have him back on my team. His experience representing clients in complex tax transactions will be a valuable resource for our clients and our colleagues,” says Claudia Desjardins Bélisle, Managing Partner of the Montréal office and leader of the national Labour & Employment group.

“It is always significant to welcome one of our former colleagues back to the Firm. John already has a strong understanding of our clients and our way of working, and his return reflects the strength of our culture, which supports collaboration and continuity,” says Jay Hoffman, Chair of the National Business Law group.

John has been recognized in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for Estate & Personal Tax Planning, in Best Lawyers in Canada, named a Corporate Lawyer to Watch in the Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-border Corporate Lawyers, and received the Lexpert Zenith Award for Corporate and Law Firm Social Responsibility.

Beyond his practice, he shares his expertise by making valuable contributions on the boards of numerous local and national community and charitable organizations.
