Toronto Partner Devin A. Persaud has been honoured as one of Canadian Lawyer’s 2024 Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada. Devin was recognized in the “Changemaker” category which spotlights leaders, innovators and catalysts for positive change in Canada’s legal sector.
Being recognized among the “Top 25 Most Influential” lawyers is a noteworthy achievement that underscores the remarkable contributions made by the recipients over the past 18 months. As highlighted by Canadian Lawyer, this accolade “speaks to a level of respect; the ability to influence public opinion, and help shape the laws of the country and others; contribution to the strength and quality of legal services; involvement and impact within the justice community and social and political influence and involvement.”
Devin has been a strong advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion in legal recruitment and workplace representation. As the outgoing President of the South Asian Bar Association, he has dedicated himself not only to engaging members of the South Asian Bar and newcomer communities, but also to inspiring a new generation of leaders. He was also an instrumental part of organizing the 2024 SABA North America conference, held in Toronto for the first time.
A key member of Miller Thomson’s Competition / Antitrust and Foreign Investment Group, Devin has worked on some of the largest and most seminal cases under the Competition Act (Canada) and the Investment Canada Act. He provides specialized advice to clients on all aspects of Canadian competition, antitrust, foreign investment, marketing, digital broadcasting, and corporate compliance law. Devin values providing clients with practical and easy to understand advice. His clients have ranged from the largest companies in Canada and the US, to small family-owned businesses.
Devin was previously one of the youngest recipients of the 2019 Lexpert Zenith Award – celebrating Change Agents in Law. He was also recognized in 2020 as the FACL Young Lawyer of the Year, in 2022 as a Precedent Setter Award winner, in 2023 as the Toronto Lawyer’s Association Emerging Lawyer Award winner, and in 2023 as a Rising Star Award winner by SABA North America. He was named in 2024 and 2025 Best Lawyers list of “Ones to Watch” in Competition/Antitrust Law and Corporate Law.
