Miller Thomson advised Kivalliq Alternative Energy Ltd. in connection with its Solar and Energy Storage Project in Naujaat, Nunavut, which is now officially online and exporting clean, locally produced renewable energy.
Kivalliq Alternative Energy’s project is Nunavut’s first Independent Power Producer (IPP) project delivering power to its local grid and marks an important milestone for a remote community historically dependent on imported diesel. The project is the culmination of more than five years of work alongside the Government of Nunavut, Government of Canada, Qulliq Energy Corporation, the Hamlet of Naujaat and the development and construction team at Kivalliq Alternative Energy. Solvest Inc. and Green Cat Renewables Ltd. served as construction and engineering partners on the project.
