Biography description
Danielle Joel is a leading lawyer in the area of estates, trust and capacity disputes. She has decades of experience advising clients in complex succession disputes, many of which include private companies. Her practice also includes the administration of complex trusts and estates, as well as advisory work aimed at resolving disputes and avoiding litigation.
Danielle is a unwavering advocate for her clients and has experience taking on high conflict matters and novel legal issues. Having advised some of Canada’s wealthiest families with their tough problems, she understands the importance of custom, practical solutions and the need for strict confidentiality. She also has significant experience navigating multi-jurisdictional issues.
Danielle is a trusted advisor to a wide range of clients, including fiduciaries, beneficiaries, financial institutions, corporate trustees, private companies, and not-for-profit/charities/foundations. She appears regularly on the Estates List of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, as well appearing at the Ontario Court of Appeal and Divisional Court, and resolves disputes through mediation. Danielle is familiar with the practices of the Ontario Children’s Lawyer and the Public Guardian and Trustee.
