Biography description
Caitlin VanDuzer is a member of Miller Thomson’s Litigation and Transportation and Logistics groups. Her practice encompasses a broad range of matters, including commercial disputes, insurance defence, personal injury, transportation and logistics, health law, and equine law. Her work in equine law is largely driven by her background as a competitive show jumper and polo player. As part of her insurance practice, Caitlin also advises clients on policy coverage issues. In 2023, she completed a five-month secondment with a Lloyd’s of London syndicate, where she worked as a claims adjuster focusing primarily on professional indemnity matters.
Caitlin joined Miller Thomson as a student in 2020 and concluded her articles with the firm in 2022. She obtained her JD from the University of Ottawa where she graduated cum laude. During law school, she held a research assistant position focusing on surrogacy and organ donation. Caitlin completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University in International Development studies, with a primary focus in political science and economics.
Active in various legal and community initiatives, Caitlin’s commitment extends beyond the courtroom. She has been part of the Ontario Educational Justice Network and served as a mentor in the Women in Law Leadership Program. Additionally, Caitlin has dedicated her time to volunteer work like the Ottawa Law Classic, supporting mental health research.
