The last few months have seen rapid developments in the privacy realm making it a good time to consider some of the hot button privacy issues impacting the health industry. This presentation looked at developments in generative AI and risk mitigation strategies for the health industry, changes to Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) processes to provide expanded public access to early-stage PHIPA decisions, and discussed the IPC’s first-ever decision considering the quality of care exemption under FIPPA. We also considered recent developments for privacy class actions relating to cyber breaches.
