As health organizations focus on transparency and accountability, creating a just culture, and ensuring that systems are in place to support quality, patient safety and risk activities, how do organizations ensure that they, their professionals and staff are not exposed to undue risk? This presentation examined the legal mechanisms that available to support confidential discussions relating to risk, critical incident reviews, systemic issues and quality improvement, documentation strategies to minimize risk and the importance of having appropriate risk and privacy frameworks in place to support this activity.
