Overview

Alissa returns to Miller Thomson after summering in 2018. She was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta and received her JD from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law.

During law school, Alissa received Dean’s List recognition every year. Following her first year, she was awarded the Torre Martin Purdy Memorial Prize in Legal Research and Writing. She was also involved in Student Legal Services and, during her third year, was one of two Co-Editors-in-Chief of the Alberta Law Review.

Prior to law school, Alissa completed her undergraduate degree in Criminology at the University of Alberta. While obtaining her degree, Alissa spent a semester abroad in Cortona, Italy studying Art History. It was also during her undergrad when Alissa started volunteering at the Zebra Child Protection Centre, which she continued to enjoy doing throughout law school.

In her spare time, Alissa can be found practising Muay Thai kickboxing, making themed playlists, travelling, reading, and attending live music. She pretends to enjoy hiking.
