Overview

Originally from Regina, Michelle moved to France in 2002 to learn French and travel. Two years later, while not quite ready to leave Europe, she moved to Ireland to attend University College Cork; beginning her studies first in commerce, before being accepted into law school the following year. She completed her Bachelor of Common Law (BCL) and Master of Laws (LL.M) degrees at UCC in 2008 and 2009, respectively. Michelle then attended the Honorable Society of the King’s Inns, where she completed her Barrister-at-Law degree (BL) in 2010, and later that year was called to the Bar of Ireland. In 2017, she was awarded her Ph.D. in Law from the University of Dublin, Trinity College. While in university, Michelle was actively involved in the UCC Law Review and teaching undergraduate students.

Michelle is passionate about improving quality and safety in healthcare, and both her master’s and Ph.D. research focused heavily on how the law can advance that objective. After returning to Regina in 2016, she had the opportunity to put her research into practice working for the provincial health authority of Saskatchewan. From 2016 until 2023, Michelle worked in the departments of Practitioner Staff Affairs, Patient Safety and Risk Management, and Labour Relations. In 2021, she completed the Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation – Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Michelle is delighted to be articling with Miller Thomson and looking forward to embarking on the next step in her legal career.

In her spare time, Michelle enjoys watching her kids play hockey, training for the QCM, and travelling.
