Biography description

Belinda’s practice focuses on high-net-worth separations and complex financial disputes involving business owners, founders, executives, professionals, their spouses, and families with significant and often generational wealth. She has been repeatedly recognized as a Leading Family Law Lawyer in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and ranked in Chambers & Partners’ High Net Worth Guide (Family/Matrimonial).

Belinda regularly advises and advocates in sophisticated family law matters involving corporate interests, trusts, complex financial disclosure, income determination, support and property claims, domestic contracts, business ownership issues, and valuation disputes. Her experience navigating financially intricate disputes frequently places her at the intersection of family, business, and wealth, including matters involving shareholder interests, privately held companies, real estate portfolios, tax considerations, estate planning, and wealth protection.

Her work frequently involves situations where personal matters directly intersect with business ownership, enterprise value, family enterprises, and complex financial structures—particularly where issues of ownership, control, valuation methodology, disclosure, confidentiality, liquidity, succession planning, and long-term wealth protection, including legacy considerations, are at stake. Belinda’s clients often include business owners, founders, executives, professionals, their spouses, and families with substantial, complex, and multi-layered wealth structures whose legal needs require a coordinated and strategic approach, including matters within the ultra-high-net-worth range.

Belinda is often called upon when family, business, and wealth considerations converge, helping clients navigate some of the most significant legal, financial, and strategic decisions affecting their families, businesses, and long-term objectives. Because these matters frequently involve privately held businesses, trusts, complex ownership structures, succession planning, and significant family wealth, she regularly works alongside colleagues across a broad range of practice areas to deliver integrated legal solutions aligned with her clients’ broader personal, business, and wealth-planning objectives. In this role, she frequently serves as a strategic advisor and trusted point of contact, helping clients access and coordinate legal advice across multiple disciplines within a full-service national law firm.

She advocates for clients both inside and outside the courtroom, including before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and appellate courts. Where litigation is not required or desired, she assists with the negotiation and structuring of comprehensive agreements addressing support, property, business interests, trusts, and other complex financial and family considerations, designed to protect rights and interests, preserve wealth and business value where appropriate, and anticipate and manage risk across both personal and commercial affairs.

Strategic, discreet, and practical advice is the cornerstone of Belinda’s practice. She is known for helping clients navigate complex, high-stakes matters with clarity, precision, and a focus on protecting their families, businesses, wealth, and long-term objectives.
