Spencer Norris practices in the areas of bankruptcy and insolvency, commercial litigation, and debt recovery. He is experienced in both creditor and debtor matters as well as shareholder and contractual disputes.

Spencer has acted for debtors, creditors, receivers, and trustees in a breadth of proceedings under the Alberta Personal Property Security Act and Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, as well as the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act. Spencer has also acted for shareholders and companies in a number of shareholder disputes often involving unanimous shareholder agreements.

Spencer received a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction from the University of Alberta School of Business before receiving his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School. During his time at Osgoode Hall, Spencer participated in a practicum where he worked with in house counsel at an international gold mining company. Prior to commencing his legal career, Spencer worked for many small and medium enterprises as well as the provincial government.

Spencer also received the Honourable F.H. Barlow Scholarship upon graduating from Osgoode Hall which recognizes graduates with expertise in commercial law.

Prior to joining Miller Thomson, Spencer articled and practiced in an international law firm.
