Overview
Jonathan is a senior partner and corporate transactional lawyer based out of the firm’s Toronto office. With a primary focus on corporate finance, securities, public and private mergers and acquisitions, and stream and royalty finance, Jonathan provides practical, tailored solutions to help his Canadian and cross-border clients achieve their business objectives.
Jonathan has extensive experience advising public and private issuers, foreign and domestic investment banks, trusts, governments, boards of directors, special committees, lenders and targets. He represents clients across all industries, including mining and other resource sectors, technology, real estate, life sciences and financial services. Issuers routinely rely on Jonathan’s expertise in assisting with identifying and accessing capital through each stage of a business’ lifecycle. He also has a deep investment dealer advisory practice with a focus on innovative corporate finance structuring and execution.
Recognized for his expertise, Jonathan was a recipient of the Lexpert Rising Stars Award in 2022, which celebrates Canada’s leading lawyers under 40. He has been named by Lexpert as a “Leading Lawyer to Watch” in the category of Corporate Finance and Securities.
Having previously served as a member of the Continuous Disclosure Committee of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), Jonathan is currently a member of the OSC Small Business Advisory Committee. He is an instructor for both the Corporate Finance and Securities Regulation courses at Windsor Law School, as well as a frequent guest lecturer for the Law & Business course at the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU).
Jonathan is a founder and co-chair of Breakfast of Champions in support of SickKids, which is an annual fundraiser that has raised over $1 million for SickKids Foundation. Additionally, he is a member of the Executive Committee of MLSE’s young professionals group, Game Changers.
