In light of the ongoing pandemic, the Federal Government has extended the following COVID-19 supports:

Employment Insurance

The number of weeks of EI regular benefits available has been extended by up to 24 weeks to a maximum of 50 weeks for claims that are made between September 27, 2020, and September 25, 2021.

Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB)

The maximum number of weeks of benefits for CRB has been increased from 26 to 38 weeks.  CRB is available to self-employed workers or workers who are not eligible for EI but still need income support.

Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB)

The maximum number of weeks of benefits for CRSB has been increased from two to four weeks.  CRSB is available to workers who are sick or must self-isolate due to COVID-19.

Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB)

The maximum number of weeks of benefits for CRCB has been increased from 26 to 38 weeks.  CRCB is available for Canadians who are unable to work because they have to care for a child under the age of 12 or another family member because schools, day cares, or care facilities are closed because of COVID-19 or because the individual receiving care is sick or must quarantine.

Leave Related to COVID-19 under the Canada Labour Code

The maximum length of the leave related to COVID-19 under the Canada Labour Code has been increased to align with the changes to the CRCB and the CRSB.
