She also holds a degree in both computer science and pharmacology, which allows her to readily understand and advise on complex patentable inventions at the cutting-edge of many industries. Larissa advises clients on the strategic creation, protection, commercialization, and enforcement of intellectual property rights, and develops global patent and intellectual property strategy, with significant experience in high-tech computer, life sciences and therapeutic, and chemical industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Larissa has drafted, prosecuted, and obtained granted patents for multinational and local clients in computer software and hardware, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, blockchain, natural language processing, computer vision, fintech, cybersecurity and encryption, telecommunications, database query languages and data management systems, search engine optimization, software as a service, business methods, pharmaceuticals, therapeutics, biotechnology, biochemistry, life sciences, chemistry, and oil and gas, among many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Larissa also represents clients in licensing, commercial agreements, joint development, software agreements, privacy matters, and brand protection, including trademarks, industrial designs, and copyright. In addition, Larissa represents clients in IP litigation and disputes, particularly in enforcement, freedom to operate, and infringement matters to safeguard their intellectual property interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Larissa draws from her experience practicing at a leading global law firm in Toronto and her legal experience at a major financial institution.&nbsp; She also serves on the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada\u2019s Patent Practice Committee, which liaises with government to shape patent law and practice in Canada.&nbsp;Before law, she conducted research in artificial intelligence as well as medical genetics and mosaicism, receiving a research award from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
