Coffee Talk: Legislative Update, Risk and Compliance

Lauren Parrish, Kathryn M. Frelick | Toronto

( Disponible en anglais seulement )

Bill 119, the Health Information Protection Act, 2015 (HIPA) proposes significant amendments to the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) and Regulation 965 of the Public Hospitals Act. In addition, HIPA proposes to repeal and replace the Quality of Care Information Protection Act, 2004 (QCIPA) with an updated piece of legislation. Please join us as we review the proposed amendments including:

  • Overview of Bill 119 and key changes to PHIPA and QCIPA
  • How does QCIPA 2015 intersect with other legislation and what does that mean for critical incident reporting and disclosure?
  • What are the implications of these changes from a risk-management perspective, and what you can do to prepare?
