Miller Thomson participation at 18th Annual STEP Canada Conference

Our National Private Client Services Group will be participating in and sponsoring the 18th annual STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Canada Conference scheduled from June 9 -10, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Over 700 delegates have registered, making this largest STEP Conference yet.

Nathalie Marchand (Montreal) and Gail Black (Calgary) served on this year’s Conference Program Committee. William Fowlis (Calgary) will be presented with the STEP Founder’s Award at the conference and Rachel Blumenfeld (Toronto) with STEP Toronto’s Volunteer of the Year award. Miller Thomson will be well represented with 15 lawyers from across the country either presenting or participating in the conference.

The following Miller Thomson lawyers will be presenting at the conference:

  • Rachel Blumenfeld (Toronto) Secretary, STEP Canada, will moderate and present at a session entitled: Estate Planning for Diverse Communities.
  • Gail Black (Calgary), will moderate a session on: A Professional’s Toolkit for Identifying and Addressing Decisional Capacity and Undue Influence.
  • Nathalie Marchand (Montreal) will moderate a session titled: Rollovers, Freezes, and Conversions: What Does All This Mean?
  • Martin Rochwerg (Toronto) will present in a panel discussion on the topic of Value-Based Estate Planning: Working Across Disciplines to Help Clients Get What They Want and Need.
