Crystal Taylor of Miller Thomson’s Saskatoon office and Yens Pederson of the Regina office are quoted in the Leader Post article on the large number of business owners who are preparing to retire. Forty-five per cent of family businesses in Canada are planning to transition company ownership in the next five years,

Crystal Taylor is quoted as saying: « Without proper legal and tax planning, many of those ownership transfers could be subject to large tax bills and a host of other pitfalls. Company founders who’ve built up a business valued at $10 million could be subject to a $2.2-million assessment for capital gains under the Saskatchewan tax code. »
