Bruce McMeekin obtains leave to appeal the decision in R. v. Castonguay Blasting to the Supreme Court of Canada.

Miller Thomson’s Bruce McMeekin, of the Markham office, was successful in obtaining leave to
appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada from the split judgement of the Court of
Appeal for Ontario
in R. v. Castonguay Blasting on September 27, 2012.

The appeal will focus on the scope of the pollution reporting requirement set
out in section 15 of the Environmental Protection Act. It is
tentatively scheduled to be heard in May 2013.
