Aperçu

Matthew maintains a broad and energetic commercial litigation practice, representing a diversity of clients, facing a variety of legal issues, across a wide range of industries. Matthew frequently acts in cases involving shareholder oppression, receiverships, injunctions, class actions, breach of contract, economic torts, fraud, defamation, debt-recovery, and files with an insolvency nexus.

Regardless of the context, on cases big and small, clients can expect Matthew to apply a responsive, cerebral, and collaborative approach, working efficiently to find practical, business-oriented, and cost-effective solutions to assist his clients in meeting their goals.

Matthew has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, and has significant and growing experience with motions, injunction proceedings, examinations, court conferences and hearings, alternative dispute resolution, and appeals.

Matthew is born-and-raised at Miller Thomson, joining as a summer student in 2017. After completing his articles with the firm, he joined Miller Thomson as an associate in 2019.

Before joining the firm, Matthew worked as an educator with the LAWS program at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law; as a summer student at an insurance defence firm in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario; and as a lifeguard.

Matthew was active in the law school community, serving as co-chair of the Law & Politics Club, and working with two academic journals. Matthew provided peer-mentorship throughout law school, and remains passionate about mentorship, prioritizing working closely with students and junior associates.

Matthew spends his spare time with friends and family, playing basketball, reading, designing and playing games, and painting.
