Lynn Ramsay practices primarily in commercial real estate law. As senior counsel, Lynn provides advice to commercial real estate developers, condominium developers, landlords, tenants, and lenders in all aspects of land development organization, structure, and financing.

Lynn has been in private practice since her call to the Bar of British Columbia in 1972, and joined the firm in 1978. For over 35 years she has been assisting developers in property acquisitions by preparing and reviewing financing documents, negotiating agreements among development partners and contractors, obtaining the necessary development and subdivision approvals, and ensuring compliance with real estate legislation. She has also assisted landlords and tenants in negotiating and preparing lease agreements and offers to lease, and has acted as general counsel on matters related to the daily operations of real estate management.

Lynn is currently a member of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys.

A graduate of Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia, Lynn is a former chair of the National Real Estate section of the Canadian Bar Association. She is currently a member of the Real Property section of the Bar. She has lectured and published papers on a variety of subjects, including “Pre-Development: The Developers Perspective,” “The Conversion of Existing Developments,” and “Public Private Partnerships”. Lynn co-authored Condominium Law and Practice in British Columbia, which was published by the Continuing Legal Education Society in September 1996. She is a former member of the executive committee of the Firm.

  • Negotiating and drafting leases on behalf of landlords and tenants

Real estate development:

  • Rezoning and subdivision
  • Development and building permits
  • Preparation and filing of disclosure statements
  • Strata titling of new and existing projects

Strata Property Act:

  • Review and comment on strata plans
  • Registration of strata plans in the land title office
  • Preparing, filing and amending disclosure statements
  • Amending strata plans after filing in the land title office

Borrowing and lending transactions:

  • Preparing security documents for lenders
  • Acting for borrowers to negotiate terms of loans
  • Reviewing security documents for borrowers
