Brittany Thompson is an associate with a developing practice in the areas of family law and commercial litigation. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019 after completing her articles with Miller Thomson. Brittany has assisted at all stages of the litigation process. She has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Small Claims Court. Brittany has also worked with clients to settle matters through mediation. Brittany is committed to providing client-focused advocacy while resolving disputes effectively and efficiently.
While completing her JD studies at the University of Western Ontario, Brittany worked as a volunteer associate caseworker with Community Legal Services, and in her second year, was team lead for The Single Women in Motherhood (SWIM) Project, a non-profit, social service organization that works for single mothers who are in need of self-compassion and emotional support. Her work with SWIM was part of Western Law’s volunteer program through Pro Bono Students Canada.
During her time at school, Brittany participated in a number of oral advocacy competitions, and represented Western Law in the National finals of the Canadian Client Consultation Competition. Prior to attending law school, Brittany received an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph, where she majored in Criminal Justice and Public Policy, and minored in Sociology. After her undergraduate studies, Brittany completed her Master’s in Criminology and Criminal Justice Policy before pursuing her law degree.
