Lara summered at Miller Thomson in 2023. She recently graduated from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia (UBC). While in law school, Lara spent three semesters as a Research Assistant to Professor Benjamin Perrin, focusing on victim law, access to justice and criminal law reform. In her second year, Lara received the Rosina and Gabriel Iacobucci Prize for achieving high standing in family law.
Passionate about legal education, Lara served as Program Coordinator for the Consent Project, a Pro Bono Students Canada initiative which provides consent education to high school students. Over the past decade, Lara’s commitment to community service motivated her to volunteer for organizations including Big Sisters of BC, the Immigrant Services Society, and Legal Aid BC.
Prior to law school, Lara obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UBC. Lara’s undergraduate essay, “Trashing the Global South: Power Relations Underpinning the Global Waste Trade” was shortlisted for publication in the UBC Journal of Political Studies. She has a keen interest in labour law and has received four scholarships for her essays on the role of unions in supporting democratic principles, the rule of law, and Truth and Reconciliation.
Throughout her undergraduate and legal studies, Lara taught fitness classes at a local studio and danced professionally for three Vancouver-based professional sports teams: the Vancouver Warriors, BC Lions, and Vancouver Canucks. Lara is an avid baker and her specialty is lemon meringue pie.
