Prior to attending Queen’s Law, Kayla attended Temple University’s Japan campus in Tokyo for two years, before transferring to the University of British Columbia to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
Kayla was a student volunteer editor at the Canadian Labour and Employment Law Journal during her first year of law school. She also participates in a number of intramural sports and organizes a law intramural volleyball team each semester.
Before attending law school, Kayla worked as a commercial insurance underwriter, specializing in writing sports and leisure risks in Ontario and British Columbia. She later moved to an insurance brokerage specialized in obtaining insurance for film risks.
In her spare time, Kayla is an avid traveler and runner, participating in charity races. As a sports fan, she enjoys following her home team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Her other hobbies include knitting and cooking.

Recently, Kayla has volunteered for the Toronto-based non-profit, Fetch & Releash. She has helped plan and transport dogs rescued from the USA to foster homes in Toronto.
