Laurissa Brousseau is a student at the McGill University Faculty of Law, where she is pursuing a joint degree in common law and civil law (B.C.L.\/J.D.), set to be completed in the fall of 2026. She stands out for her sustained commitment across academic, professional, and community settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She grew up in a vibrant French-speaking community in Western Canada and is therefore fully bilingual. Laurissa has demonstrated great initiative from a young age, developing her leadership skills as a squadron commander in the Royal Canadian Air Force Cadets and through her involvement with various francophone representative organizations in Alberta. These hands-on experiences continue to shape her approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Modern Languages (with distinction), along with a minor in Public Administration from the University of Ottawa, she moved to Eastern Canada to be closer to family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her experience as a legal assistant at a law firm, as an intern at the Senate of Canada, and as a Case Manager at the McGill Legal Information Clinic allowed her to develop strong legal research, drafting, and vulgarization skills. She was nominated for the Chief Justice Richard Wagner Award in recognition of her commitment to human rights, demonstrated through her involvement with the Regroupement des maisons pour femmes victimes de violence conjugale<\/em> and Citizens with Disabilities Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This year, as Vice-President, Events of the McGill Business Law Association, she further developed her understanding of the industry and confirmed her interest in business law. Her interest in litigation also grew through her participation in the 8th edition of the annual Michel-Bastarache Moot Court Competition, where she and her team advanced to the finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond law, Laurissa enjoys long walks in the forest, creative pursuits, hockey, biking, cross-country skiing, travelling, and spending quality time with her three brothers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":95,"featured_media":49950,"template":"","school":[834],"spoken-lang":[131,138],"badges":[],"class_list":["post-50112","students","type-students","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
