The <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gov.bc.ca\/releases\/2021FIN0057-002082\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ministry of Finance\u2019s information bulletin is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement followed extensive public consultation from various legal professionals and real estate industry associations, including a formal request for relief from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbabc.org\/CBAMediaLibrary\/cba_bc\/pdf\/Advocacy\/Submissions\/Letter_to_Ministry_Finance_LOTA_Deadline_Oct_25_2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canadian Bar Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All \u201creporting bodies\u201d owning an interest in land will need to disclose specified \u201cinterest holders\u201d, including shareholders in a corporation, beneficiaries of a trust, and partners in a partnership, as more particularly set out in B.C.\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca\/civix\/document\/id\/complete\/statreg\/19023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Land Owner Transparency Act<\/a> <\/em>and the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca\/civix\/document\/id\/complete\/statreg\/250_2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Land Owner Transparency Regulation<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A LOTR transparency report requires a reporting body to not only identify these individuals, but also to disclose sensitive information about each of those individuals, including their full name, city and country of principal residence and social insurance numbers.
