The creation of wills and powers of attorney (POAs) has been no different; if anything, the need for digital processes has become more pressing in this area, as the crisis has been one of public health. As countries across the world report an upsurge in the number of wills being registered, many have also moved to systems of virtual witnessing and signing of documents.‘The COVID-19 pandemic has, for many, reinforced the necessity of getting their estate plans in order,’ says Jennifer Corak. ‘Individuals who might not have given much thought to their estate plan prior to the pandemic are now recognising the importance of not only planning what will happen to their estates following their death, but also for incapacity.’
