Shui Luo is an experienced business and international transactions lawyer, licensed in China and Ontario. He previously practised in Beijing, China for more than a decade, focusing on cross border transactions. His long term legal career in international business enabled him to have an unusual depth and breadth of experience with the legal and business environment, and a unique and valuable insight into how to do business between parties of different cultures.
Shui’s practice in Canada falls into three main areas: corporate and commercial matters, real property transactions, and immigration.
His general corporate and commercial law practice covers a broad range of areas, from establishing new business or acquiring existing business, debt or equity financing for the business, to advising on various matters associated with the operation of the business, such as drafting purchase or supply contracts, and strategic advice on intellectual property, employment or relevant corporate matters.
Shui’s education and practice experience in both China and Canada put him in a unique advantageous position in advising on cross border transactions, either inbound from China to Canada, or outbound from Canada to China, or various types of transactions between the two countries.
His real estate and immigration practices are closely related to his general corporate and commercial law practice. With abundant knowledge on a wide range of business areas, Shui is happy to exert such knowledge in helping investors and business people to purchase or develop real estate, or settle down in Canada via different business immigration programs.
Shui provides services in the following key areas:
Corporate and commercial: establishing corporations and partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, debt financing, equity financing, corporate restructuring, joint venture, contract drafting, intellectual property licensing, employment or other general business law matters.
International: investment or trade transactions between Canada and Greater China.
Real property: advice on project structure, purchase of real estate, development of real estate and financing of the project.
Immigration: different immigration programs at the federal and provincial levels.
When practising in China, Shui’s clients include the world’s leading producers of food and beverage, clean energy equipment and mineral resources from North America, Europe and Australia, and has worked with a number of prestigious law firms or agencies located throughout the world. This will be a valuable asset for Canadian clients to expand their business to the rest of the world.
