Overview

Mini Bhaskar is a Paralegal in Miller Thomson’s Toronto office. Mini focuses Intellectual Property matters, and will be primarily focused on Canadian and foreign patent filings, trademark and industrial design prosecution, including preparation and filing of formal documents and assignments, completion requirements and other formalities. Mini also liaises with foreign associates and agents in Canadian and foreign filings.

Mini’s key areas of focus are:

Patents:

  •  Preparing and filing Canadian, PCT and U.S. Patent applications;
  • Collaborates regularly with counsel in the U.S. and in the other jurisdictions to coordinate Patent protection for clients in Canada and internationally;
  • Tracks due dates and send reminders to client to obtain instructions, prepare and file the formal documents and instructs foreign agents accordingly;
  • Tracker and provide notice to patent agents regarding upcoming patent due dates, report due dates to clients

Trademarks:

  • Assist in all aspects of trademark prosecution in Canada, WIPO, US and in other jurisdictions, including assessing the registrability of trademarks, filing and prosecution of applications to register trademarks, trademark opposition and expungement proceedings
  • Attend to renewal of trademark registrations and nice classifications requests;
  • Competing formalities and ensuring that the applications remain in good standing;
  • Prepare and file response to examiner’s reports;
  • Correspond with counsel in United States and in other jurisdictions on a daily basis
  • Assists with conducting intellectual property due diligence searches and preparing and filing copyright applications;
