Overview
Michelle is an associate in both the Social Impact and Real Estate groups. Her practice focuses on both charities and not-for-profit law and real estate law, as well as the intersection of these two areas, including in the social purpose real estate space.
Michelle joined Miller Thomson as a summer student in 2021 and concluded her articles with the firm in 2023. Michelle obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Victoria (UVic) and her Bachelor of Arts with distinction from Simon Fraser University (SFU).
During law school, Michelle worked with the Department of Justice in their Business & Regulatory Law section and as a legal research assistant for Professor Freya Kodar. Michelle also volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and with UVic’s Law Buddy Program as a student mentor.
Prior to law school, Michelle held multiple research assistant positions with various labs at SFU, worked with the John Howard Society as an outreach worker, and volunteered with the Crisis Centre of BC, where she answered phone calls received through the Crisis Centre’s various distress lines.
