Overview
Matthew Irish is building a civil litigation practice with a focus on resolving commercial disputes proactively and efficiently. He has experience acting for insurers, municipalities, transit authorities and public authorities in respect of personal injury, commercial business loss and accident claims. He has provided coverage opinions to insurers and acted in cross-border, multi-party insurance cases.
Matthew was called to the Bar in 2013 and attended law school at the University of Western Ontario, where he received a certificate in negotiation and mediation and was awarded the Dean of Law Entrance Scholarship.
Matthew articled, and joined as an associate with, a leading insurance defence firm in London, Ontario providing services to clients throughout southwestern Ontario. In his practice, he has acted primarily in claims against public authorities, municipalities and transit authorities.
While at the University of Western Ontario, he was a student volunteer at the Legal Aid Clinic and carried a variety of Small Claims Court files. As a volunteer with the Dispute Resolution Centre he has provided pro bono negotiation and dispute resolution services to members of the community.
In 2011, Matthew worked as a legal intern in with the World Bank Inspection Panel in Washington, D.C. , where he assessed international allegations concerning human rights, labour issues and environmental concerns with World Bank projects.
Matthew joined Miller Thomson in 2018 and continues to grow his litigation practice.
