Overview

Matt Innes maintains a broad practice which focuses on a range of corporate and commercial law matters including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, and real estate.  Matt enjoys working with private companies and strives to deliver cost-effective legal solutions that allow companies and their shareholders to realize both short and long terms goals.  A significant portion of Matt’s practice is focused on tech start-ups, where he works with both new and established tech companies to carry out financing rounds, complete secondary share sale transactions and advise on general corporate matters.

Matt’s background is in agribusiness, and as a result he enjoys working with companies throughout that industry as well.  He is able to advise on such matters as corporate structures, debt financing, real estate and succession planning. Miller Thomson is recognized as Canada’s leading agribusiness law firm, and Matt utilizes that firm expertise, along with his past business experience in the field, to deliver practical, industry specific legal advice.

Matt completed his articles with Miller Thomson before joining the firm as an Associate.  He completed his Juris Doctor at Western University in 2016 and received his Bachelor of Science (Agr.) from the University of Guelph in 2004.
