Overview
Julia Amelio is an active member of Miller Thomson's Business Law Group with a focus on financial services, corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions. Before joining Miller Thomson as an associate in 2021, Julia summered and articled with the firm.
Julia obtained her Juris Doctor with Distinction from the University of Alberta in 2020. During her time at the Faculty of Law, Julia volunteered with Student Legal Service and Law Show. Julia was also a member of the Editorial Board of the Alberta Law Review.
Prior to attending law school, Julia obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance at the University of British Columbia. While completing her undergraduate degree, Julia assisted in fundraising efforts for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice and volunteered at the BC SPCA. After completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree and before commencing her legal studies, Julia worked in Human Resources at a large oil and gas company.
Julia remains actively involved in the Edmonton legal community, serving as a volunteer with the Provincial Court Civil Claims Duty Counsel Program.
