Overview

Elise is an associate in the commercial litigation group. She joined the firm as a summer student in 2021 and completed her articling in 2022. During her articling she focused her practice on commercial and civil litigation, including contractual, insurance, insolvency and succession matters, as well as on employment and labour law.

Elise completed her law studies at McGill University, where she obtained a Juris Doctor in common law and a Bachelor’s degree in civil law. She distinguished herself by her academic results, which placed her on the Dean’s list of the top 10% of students in the faculty, in her third year.

Over the course of her studies, Elise developed a keen interest in litigation. She was the winner of the Laskin Moot Court Competition with her team. Elise also won awards for second best oralist in the competition, best mooter pair in the final and second best factum.

Elise has worked at several legal clinics. She volunteered, and then worked, as a senior research assistant for the Legal Information Clinic at McGill and was Event Coordinator at the Compass Startup Legal Clinic, where she helped clients create their startups and led workshops on business law.

Community involvement

  • Pro Bono: Pinay, an association that supports Filipino women who immigrate to Quebec to work in the caregiving sector. Elise provided legal information and assisted lawyers in drafting legal documents to help women in extremely vulnerable situations.
  • Action Réfugiés Montréal: Elise provided legal support by assisting asylum seekers before their hearings.
