Overview

Bronwhyn practices commercial and civil litigation with a focus on construction litigation, real property disputes, and estates litigation. She helps clients to resolve their legal disputes in a timely and efficient manner. Bronwhyn has appeared before the Federal Court, the Alberta Court of King’s Bench, and the Alberta Court of Justice. In addition, Bronwhyn has assisted clients with other forms of dispute resolution such as mediation, arbitration, and Judicial Dispute Resolution.

Bronwhyn’s litigation experience includes:

Civil and Commercial Litigation: builders’ liens, construction litigation, commercial and residential lease litigation, contract disputes, defamation claims, fraud litigation, property claims, condominium property disputes, registration of judgments from other jurisdictions, and professional negligence claims

Estates Litigation: validating wills, disputes over estates, adult guardianship and trusteeship applications, proper maintenance and support claims, and wills challenges

Prior to joining Miller Thomson LLP, Bronwhyn was a summer student and articled at a large national firm, following which she began her practice at a respected mid-size Calgary law firm. She therefore has extensive legal training in areas such as legal research and writing as well as practical experience representing clients before the courts. Bronwhyn has wide-ranging experience in the civil litigation practice area, and has for example obtained interlocutory injunctions, rectification of agreements, and many interlocutory and final orders, and won a 5-day Provincial Court trial.

In addition to her practice, Bronwhyn is a Young Advocates Standing Committee member of The Advocates’ Society, is the co-chair of the Young Lawyers Subcommittee of the Alberta chapter of the Canadian Bar Association, is the co-editor of the Miller Thomson Breaking Ground construction blog, and is a member of the Association of Women Lawyers, the Calgary Bar Association, and Lawyers for Equity, Access, and Diversity (LEAD) Alberta. Bronwhyn also volunteers with Calgary Legal Guidance where she provides pro bono work to members of the Calgary community.
