Overview
Andrea Speer is a lawyer in Miller Thomson’s tax practice group, working primarily in estate planning and administration. Andrea joined Miller Thomson as an associate after working as a summer student and articling student with the firm. As a result, she has developed the skills necessary to provide efficient and professional service to her clients.
Andrea provides legal services in the following areas:
Estate Planning: Andrea advises on estate planning matters for professionals and owner-manager clients, families that have individuals with disabilities and blended family situations. She also assists clients in developing an incapacity plan through the preparation of powers of attorney for personal care and powers of attorney for the management of property.
Estate Administration: Andrea assists estate trustees with the preparation of the Application for a Certificate of Appointment and provides ongoing advice throughout the estate administration process.
Andrea received her Canadian and American Dual Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law, and the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Law. During her time in law school, Andrea remained active in the law community having volunteered at the Veterans Legal Clinic in Detroit, Michigan and acted as President of the Windsor Chapter of the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF).
