Aimee Halfyard is a member of the firm’s Business Law Group, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, financial services and other corporate commercial transactions. Prior to joining Miller Thomson Aimee spent almost four years in–house as Associate General Counsel at a natural gas fuels company and prior to that she was an associate in the business law group at national and international law firms. Aimee is a trusted advisor to her clients, working with them to provide sound legal advice that balances the priorities of business opportunities against legal risks.
As in-house counsel Aimee worked exclusively on corporate and commercial matters, with a primary focus on providing strategic legal advice regarding equity financing, major infrastructure projects, anchor customer transactions and joint ventures. She drafted and negotiated infrastructure agreements, construction agreements, long term committed supply agreements, joint marketing agreements, joint venture agreements and other commercial agreements. She worked with each of the business units providing advice regarding long term strategic planning and business development initiatives.
In private practice Aimee was involved in numerous private asset and share sale transactions, subscription agreements, shareholders agreements joint venture agreements. She also provided support to the financial services groups on borrower- and lender-side debt financing transactions, including secured and unsecured syndicated facilities. Aimee’s clients included Canadian and US Private equity firms, energy service companies, technology companies, transportation companies, oil & gas producers and engineering firms.
